DRIVING INNOVATION FOR AFRICA'S PUBLIC SECTOR TRANSFORMATION

The Principal Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development and Vice President of Africa Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM), Dr Jane Kere Imbunya on Tuesday 24th March, 2026 delivered the closing remarks during a strategic AAPAM innovation webinar that brought together public sector leaders and practitioners from across the continent.

The webinar, convened under the theme “Innovation and Impact: Institutionalizing Innovation in the Public Sector,” provided a platform for insightful discussions on how African governments can harness innovation to enhance efficiency, responsiveness, and citizen-centered service delivery.

In her address, Dr. Imbunya emphasized that innovation must move beyond isolated initiatives, noting that it should be firmly embedded within policy frameworks, organizational cultures, and performance systems to achieve meaningful transformation.

She underscored that institutionalizing innovation is key to delivering sustainable and measurable public value, adding that governments must create enabling environments that nurture creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement in the public sector.

Dr. Imbunya reaffirmed AAPAM’s unwavering commitment to supporting member states in promoting innovation, strengthening networks of practice, and advancing reform agendas across Africa, positioning the continent for a more dynamic and impactful public service.
