GOVERNMENT SIGNS PARTNERSHIP DEAL TO STRENGTHEN PUBLIC SERVICE REFORMS AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
The State Department for Public Service & Human Capital Development on Tuesday 10th March, 2026 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Population and Health Research Center aimed at strengthening knowledge management, research collaboration, and institutional capacity across the public service.
Speaking during the signing ceremony held at Harambee house, Nairobi, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Service & Human Capital Development Dr.Jane Kere Imbunya, noted that the partnership marks an important milestone in advancing public sector reforms and strengthening the performance of the Kenyan Public Service.
The collaboration is expected to support ongoing government efforts to enhance institutional efficiency, promote evidence-based policymaking, and improve service delivery to citizens.
The PS emphasized that strong institutions depend on strong human capital systems and effective knowledge governance. The partnership will therefore focus on strengthening knowledge management as a people-centered public service function, building leadership and technical capacity across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and supporting research and innovation to inform policy and decision-making.
Through the collaboration, the two institutions will also work together to promote institutional learning, support performance improvement initiatives, and facilitate the sharing of best practices within government.
The State Department reaffirmed its commitment to provide policy leadership and coordination to ensure the successful implementation of the partnership. Activities under the MoU will be integrated into the Department’s work plans and implemented across government institutions.
The partnership is expected to contribute to strengthened institutional capacity, improved knowledge sharing across government, enhanced public service performance, and more responsive and citizen-centered service delivery.
The signing of the MoU reflects the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening public sector reforms and building a modern, professional, and results-oriented public service.
