Landmark Policy Launch: Public Service Workplace Policy on HIV , AIDS and Other Syndemic Diseases 2025

The Government has officially launched the Public Service Workplace Policy on HIV, AIDS, and Other Syndemic Diseases (2025) — a groundbreaking framework that reaffirms Kenya’s commitment to building safe, inclusive, and productive workplaces.

The launch was presided over by Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, alongside Dr. Ouma Oluga, Principal Secretary for Medical Services on Monday 1st September,  2025 at Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete.

This policy recognizes the ongoing impact of HIV, TB, mental health challenges, non-communicable diseases, and substance use disorders on public servants, their families, and national productivity.

✅ By mainstreaming prevention, testing, treatment, care, and psychosocial support, the policy safeguards the dignity of nearly 1 million public servants.
✅ It tackles stigma and discrimination head-on while embedding wellness as a shared responsibility across government institutions.
✅ It integrates mental health, disability inclusion, and NCDs into workplace wellness programs, backed by leadership accountability, workplace human-rights policies, and support systems such as Wellness Committees and trained Mental Health Champions.

This is not just a policy — it’s a promise to care, protect, and empower those who serve the nation.
