Landscape and ecosystem restoration is essential in the fight against adverse climate change, biodiversity loss, and for securing sustainable livelihoods for generations to come.
Today, focal officers from the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, led by Director of Administration Mr. Vincent Matioli, held a strategic meeting with their counterparts from the State Department for Forestry, through the National Landscape and Restoration Secretariat.
Key objectives of the meeting included:
- Reviewing progress on set targets
- Identifying gaps and challenges
- Prioritizing resource mobilization for tree growing
- Strengthening coordination and reporting via the Jaza Miti platform
- Exploring innovative, sector-specific strategies to integrate tree growing into core departmental programmes
The National Landscape and Ecosystem Restoration Programme plays a critical role in restoring Kenya’s landscapes, enhancing climate resilience, and safeguarding our ecological and economic future.
